Florence Nightingale: A Life Inspired

Florence Nightingale: A Life Inspired

Lynn M. Hamilton

Has there ever been someone who accomplished so much and at the same time thought less of herself? Before she had even turned forty, Florence Nightingale was the darling of the British public, the heroine of the Crimea. She could have sailed home to England and comfortably dined out on her fame for the remainder of her long days.

Instead, she conducted a ruthless post-mortem on every moment of her wartime service and found herself entirely wanting. She did not try to hide her mistakes; instead, she sought to broadcast them so that everyone would understand what happens in unsanitary medical facilities. She could well have slid into self-pity and inertia, yet she spent the next several decades campaigning for reforms.

One hundred and fifty years ago, the respect we now have for nurses and the intense training that nurses must undergo was nothing but a seed in Florence Nightingale’s imagination. If we believe that nurses are some of the most respectable and hardworking people in our community, we owe that belief to Florence Nightingale. But she never took the credit. As an old woman of seventy-seven, she deflected all her accomplishments onto God with the words, “How inefficient I was in the Crimea! Yet He has raised up Trained Nursing from it!”

Whatever Happened to the Power of God? & It's Time to Rock the Boat

Whatever Happened to the Power of God? & It’s Time to Rock the Boat

Michael Brown

Together for the first time in a single volume, two of Dr. Michael L. Brown’s groundbreaking works are ready to challenge a new generation of Christians to combat the status quo of a compromised church and a godless society.
—–
Have you ever wondered why you rarely-if ever-see the kinds of miracles today that were so common in the Bible? Whatever Happened to the Power of God? explores why so few of the seriously ill are healed, why apparent encounters with God’s supernatural power so rarely change lives, and why spiritual warfare seems to have little effect on society. This book asks the questions you have always wanted to ask and confronts you with answers that will change your life. Find out what’s holding back the power of God!

—– In It’s Time to Rock the Boat, Dr. Brown reveals the biblical pattern for changing society through preaching a confrontational gospel. The Old Testament prophets, New Testament apostles, John the Baptist, and Jesus the Messiah Himself were not content to let society be dragged down by its sinful and destructive elements-they took a stand against an onslaught of degradation and made waves that rocked the world! God is calling each of us to be part of that world-shaking movement. It’s time!

GSDF Gluten Sugar Dairy Free

GSDF Gluten Sugar Dairy Free

Michelle DeBerge

Whether you have food allergy, sensitivity or other medical condition, or you are giving up gluten, sugar and/or dairy by choice, it can be quite overwhelming knowing what is safe to eat, how to cook a different way and what to have on hand to make healthy meals. Once you learn about how toxic these ingredients are to the body, where the hidden dangers are, you will want to know how to avoid them and yet also make delicious food.

There are more food allergies today than there ever have been before. Researchers estimate that up to 15 million Americans have food allergies. This potentially deadly disease affects 1 in every 13 children. You may have even read that celebrities like Billy Bob Thornton is gluten and dairy intolerant, Robin McGraw (Dr. Phil’s wife) has gluten sensitivity as does Jessica Simpson, Katherine, Duchess of Kent and many others. Some may not even be aware that they suffer from food allergies or intolerance.

One of the more common food allergies is gluten, and it has a lot to do with how wheat is grown and GMO’s (or “genetically modified organisms”). Gluten can cause arthritis, joint pain, weight gain, foggy brain and more. Sugar and dairy are the causes of a lot of common illnesses today also.

Gluten Free is now posted on menus, pre-packaged food and on ready-made items. People are becoming aware of the dangers of eating it. Yet when someone is first diagnosed with a food allergy or they are removing these items for health reasons, overwhelmingly they feel limited by their food choices and do not understand how to turn old style recipes into GSDF ones.

Michelle E. DeBerge had to become gluten, sugar, dairy free for health reasons and at first it was a struggle. As she began to study with some of the top alternative care practitioners and began to learn how and what to eat for her health, she struggled to find recipes that were all 3: gluten, sugar and dairy free. Most recipes were normally just free of one of the ingredients. So she began to re-write her cookbooks so that all of her recipes were GSDF.

She discovered the health benefits of herbs, juicing and found healthy ways to recreate some of her favorite dishes. Along the way she lost over 300 pounds and is still getting healthy. Michelle started a website that grew into a huge community where she teaches classes about being GSDF, gives cooking lessons, recipes and coaches people as they get healthy.

This book is more than an important guide how to live gluten, sugar and dairy free with ease. It discusses the health aspects of what those ingredients do to the body, how to avoid them and find the hidden dangers.

Michelle shows you what the healthy foods are, what to have on hand for your pantry, freezer and fridge. You will be taught how to prep your meal for the week, simple meal plans and quick easy recipes. The recipes are delicious, easy to make and you will be able to create meals in minutes. She has been able to convert favorite recipes into even better tasting versions. Included inside are the GSDF Conversions and Substitutions to turn old recipes into healthy, delicious GSDF ones!

Why Jesus?: Rediscovering His Truth in an Age of Mass Marketed Spirituality

Why Jesus?: Rediscovering His Truth in an Age of Mass Marketed Spirituality

Ravi Zacharias

The author believes that over the past forty years movements like New Age spirituality and society’s obsession with human potential have combined like a “perfect storm” to redefine for popular culture what has been for centuries the classic biblical definition of the person, work, and teaching of Jesus Christ.
In WHY JESUS?, Ravi Zacharias looks at the impact of this “storm” by discussing the 60s-70s “Age of Aquarius,” actor Shirley MacLaine’s book and TV series Out On a Limb, author James Redfield (The Celestine Prophecy), Rhonda Byrne (The Secret), Dan Brown (The Da Vinci Code), and other books by Eckart Tolle, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, the Dali Lama, and Marianne Williamson. Special attention will be given to the influence of Oprah Winfrey’s media platform in reshaping society by introducing and promoting certain books and authors.

Major new age and human potential tenets will be discussed like: the belief that we are all gods and have to discover our divinity; Jesus was only a good teacher; Christianity is but one among many ways to eternal life; reincarnation is real; Jesus was married; truth is relative; there is no sin; and perfection is possible.

The truth of and the arguments for the bodily resurrection of Jesus will be presented as the most important argument for the exclusive claims about Jesus and Christianity.
