1. Tell us a little bit about yourself, your hobbies and interests.
I love to do yoga in the morning. I take nature walks a few times a week now that it is warm out. I get so many ideas and inspirations when I’m with the trees:) I like to horseback ride, and watch movies.
2. When and why did you start writing books?
I started writing screenplays when I was 16. From there around 20 or so I decided I wanted to write novels. I felt like it was easier to share my stories with the world through novels. I write because I love it. I see the story in my mind like a movie and I just let it flow.
3. What made you decide to tackle writing as a career?
Well I knew I wanted my stories to see the light of day. Being able to share my stories with audience that love children’s and young adult genres is so fulfilling to me. Additionally I believe through my characters I can inspire and comfort others. I like to ripen my characters with strong emotions and feelings we all go through. I think this form of relating can be touching and entertaining.
4. Which one of your books or characters is your favorite?
This is tough. I think Milan maybe my favorite so far. Only because I envision more as a heroine in her own right. She is so capable and striving for some much internal knowledge. She’s not your everyday kind of a girl.
5. Which one of your books was the hardest to write and stretched you the most as a writer?
Cameo was a little tricky. Nia was a character who almost had to let her guard with each draft. She was so guarded. It was alarming yet it felt like it fit. So I had to find a place for her to be vulnerable. I had to counter her with characters and situations that made her let down her guard.
6. Who is your favorite author and book?
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
7. What book are you reading right now?
10 Secrets of Success by Wayne Dyer. Trying to get more zen in my life. It is tough in New York City.
8. Where do you get your inspiration for your books?
Life and the trees. Oh my goodness! I try to use funny stories I’ve heard. Or sometimes I just sit around and think what if someone did this or this happened. Once I have the core story developed. The ideas just start to flash before my eyes like a movie.
9. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Playing gin rummy.
10. Do you have any new books in the works?
Milan in the City. Part 2 of the Broken trilogy.
Tanille Edwards has authored a few Kindle books that are discounted this week.
